A strong third period helped the combined Whitefish Bay/Nicolet/Shorewood hockey team to a 5-2 win over Brookfield/Catholic Memorial Saturday, extending its win streak to four games.

JSOnline.com reported that the Storm (6-1) were down 2-1 in the second period before tying it up, then scored three times in eight minutes in the third period.

Child actress Cozi Zuehlsdorff to appear at Lakeshore Chinooks game

13-year-old actress Cozi Zuehlsdorff, from the Dolphin Tale, will join Lakeshore Chinooks fans at Kapco Park on June 5th. Zuehlsdorff will sign autographs for fans and help cheer on the Chinooks to a win.

The young actress will also sing the national anthem before the first pitch. The June 5th game against the Eau Claire Express begins at 6:35 p.m.

Guinness world record attempt happens June 23, Lake Geneva

Vespa and scooter enthusiasts and their fans can participate in a Guinness world record attempt for the largest scooter parade on the planet. The rally happens Saturday, June 23, 2012. The parade kicks off at 11:00 a.m.

Participation is free to anyone who will be driving any type of scooter in the parade. For those who don't wish to ride in the parade, it's a great opportunity to watch the event and be a part of history in the making.

The two-mile route through historic Lake Geneva will have a police escort. It ends with a celebration at Flatiron Park in the City of Lake Geneva. Coordinators hope to have 1,000 Vespas and scooters of all types participate.

Nicolet High School student wins national award for video contest

Nicolet High School senior Adrianna Torres received an award after competing in the 2011 Signatures Contest sponsored by Gatorade and MaxPreps.com. Torres made a video about the rituals sports athletes perform.

Videos in this contest were judged fon creativity, relevance to high school sports and overall quality of the video. She is one of five students from high schools around the state to win.

"Once in a Lifetime" Fundraiser to Benefit Ozaukee Ice Rink Expansion-11/11/11

On November 11th, the community is invited to take part in the  "Once in a Lifetime" fundraiser to benefit the Ozaukee Ice Rink Expansion.  The event starts at 7pm at Shully's in Thiensville and will feature cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, raffle items and a silent and verbal auction.

Auction items include a Brewer ticket and tailgate package,Packer tickets, a behind the scenes tour at the Milwaukee County Zoo, a chef prepared dinner in your home and much more.  There are over 25 auction items detailed on the website, and much more will be available at the event.

Ozaukee Mini-Mite Hockey League Registration Open for Grades pre-K thru 3rd

Registration for the 2011-2012 Ozaukee Mini-Mite Hockey season is now under way.  Players can register online at www.ozaukeehockey.com  until October 15th.

New and developing players are welcome from grades 3K – 3rd.  No previous hockey or skating experience is required and the kids will be taught the fundamentals of hockey, including how to skate. 

The season runs October – March and teams practice/play on both Saturday and Sunday mornings at the Ozaukee Ice Center.  The cost is $225 for the season and free rental equipment is available while supplies last.  Skaters must have their own skates and sticks.
